Sage bitters add complexity to the simple julep.

The calendar says it is still winter, but we have had a series of warm days in Colorado. The warmer temperatures have us looking forward to spring nights sitting by the campfire. Or at least sitting on our deck and enjoying a refreshing cocktail. The warm spring days inspired us to create a refreshing citrus cocktail.

For this cocktail, we paired grapefruit seltzer with rye whiskey, mint, lime, sage bitters for this julep-inspired winter citrus cocktail. We opted for grapefruit seltzer for this recipe, but you could use grapefruit juice instead. This is one of our favorite cocktail creations.

We came back to the recipe and tried it out with Rittenhouse Rye. The extra bite to the Rittenhouse made this cocktail even more delicious than the first time we tried it. You can find our review of Rittenhouse Rye here.
