Spring is right around the corner, and I’ve been spending time doing a little spring cleaning. As I started reorganizing some of the contents of our pantry, I stumbled upon an unopened bottle of spiced apple cider, likely left over from the holiday season. We decided to use it to create an Apple Cherry Tart cocktail.
I admit that an Apple Cherry Tart is more of a fall-oriented cocktail, so it might seem odd to post the recipe in the spring. However, I’d rather use the spiced apple cider in a scrumptious cocktail than let it go to waste. It helps that the weather this week is going to be cold and rainy. Those days leave me craving a savory cocktail to enjoy while curled under a blanket with a book. The Apple Cherry Tart is perfect for relaxing, yet the tartness of the ginger and cherry reminds me that spring is coming.
Apple Cherry Tart Ingredients
The Apple Cherry Tart requires a few simple ingredients. You will need apple cider, ginger beer, and your favorite whiskey. You’ll also need cherry juice and cherries for this recipe. We used the syrup from our jar of Starlino cocktail cherries to add a touch of sweetness to the Apple Cherry Tart. We prefer the spiced apple cider because it gives the Apple Cherry Tart a savory kick. We used our favorite, Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond, for the whiskey, but you can use your favorite bourbon or rye in this cocktail.
We recommend serving the Apple Cherry Tart in a copper mug. The copper keeps your beverage ice cold and brings out the crispness of the apple and ginger beer. If you don’t have a set of copper mugs for your home bar, we recommend picking some up here.
We love this Apple Cherry Tart cocktail. It was the perfect addition to our sunset porch sitting this weekend, reminding us that spring is on the horizon, even if there is snow in the forecast. Give it a try, and let us know what you think.
