Bourbon Bramble

Summer is officially here and that means berries are widely available. Whether from the local grocery store or through Imperfect Foods, berries have been on our weekly grocery list. Although we typically munch on berries for dessert this time of the year, they serve another helpful purpose; cocktail ingredients. This week we used them to craft a Bourbon Bramble.

Although a Bramble cocktail is typically made with gin, we modified the recipe to use bourbon as our base spirit. The Bourbon Bramble is a simple cocktail to create that only requires a few simple ingredients. It is best served chilled on a hot day.

For this cocktail, we used Wolf Moon Bourbon as our base spirit. We chose Wolf Moon because of its lower alcohol content and subtle flavors that didn’t overpower the berry flavors of the Bourbon Bramble. This is truly a cocktail you can sip throughout the night. If you haven’t read our Wolf Moon review, you can find it here.

One item to note, if you make a lot of fruit-based cocktails, you will want to make sure you invest in a sieve. Berries often have many small seeds which can detract from the cocktail. It is hard to enjoy your drink if you are worried about whether you have something stuck between your teeth. Using a sieve to strain your drink after mixing removes most of the grit. You’ll end up with all the flavor without the pulp.
