Whiskey Mint Lemonade

There are some combinations you just can’t beat. Peanut butter and jelly. Pizza and beer. Jordan and Pippen. We believe mint and whiskey should join the ranks as an indelible dynamic duo. From summery bourbon fruit smashes to the classic mint julep, mint pairs well with any whiskey cocktail. Our cocktail this week involves just a few simple ingredients to create a Whiskey Mint Lemonade, enjoyed over ice to cool you down.

I like to think that I have a green thumb. I’ve kept most of our houseplants alive for years, which situates me above many. During the warmer months of the year, we keep an outdoor herb garden to so we have the perfect seasonings for any recipe. Lavender, rosemary, sage, basil, cilantro, and parsley grow alongside the most versatile herb, mint. My outdoor herb garden thrives. My indoor herb garden…not so much. Through the late winter and early spring, most of my indoor herbs wilt and wither. The only exception: mint.

After one of Alie’s recent work events, she brought home a leftover quart of agave lemonade. We don’t drink a lot of juice, so this treat rarely makes an appearance on our grocery list. Lemonade is a perfect cocktail mixer for several spirits, but it is especially good with whiskey. The unexpected surprise accompanied by an abundance of mint set the playing field for the Whiskey Mint Lemonade.

This recipe boasts a sweet and tangy libation best served over ice. It is the perfect cocktail for brunching, relaxing on the patio, or taking a break from gardening on those warm spring and summer days.
