Whenever we go camping with our friend Erin, she always brings a Tupperware full of freshly cut mango and a container of Tajin. We’ll crack into the mango, sprinkle it with Tajin, and devour it until it’s all gone. It’s perfect for breakfast, a snack after a hike, a refreshment for a day on the water, or a post-s’more snack around the fire. The combination suits all needs and palettes, which is why the Mango Tajin Dream is inspired by Erin’s camp staple.
As much as Erin loves Tajin, she reciprocally hates whiskey. Every time she comes over, we’ll give her a try of something we think she’ll appreciate. And every time, she lurches backward, contorts her face, and pushes the glass as far away from her as possible. We have successfully made her a few cocktails that haven’t repulsed her, which means we must be doing something right. Thinking about all the folks who haven’t learned to yet appreciate whiskey, we created this cocktail that even the most averse will consume like juice.
The Mango Tajin Dream blends fresh mango with ginger and triple sec. We think it is another tropical, summertime drink to add to your cocktail menu. We liked it best with Elijah Craig Small Batch, which paired well with the Tajin flavor. However, if you’re friends don’t like whiskey, we suggest something a little lower proof and easy to drink, such as Wolf Moon Bourbon.
Whether you are planning for a cocktail party on your patio, or you are trying to introduce your friends to whiskey through various cocktails, the Mango Tajin Dream is sure to be a hit.
