Recently, we’ve been getting our house ready to sell. As part of the process, I started cleaning the fridge and discovered that Alie had recently purchased a bag of lemons. Rather than making lemonade, we decided to make a Maple Whiskey Sour.
We’ve loved our house, but we have definitely outgrown it. Since we moved in, we bought our camper, kayaks, rafts, and a wide variety of other outdoor gear, tools, and decorations to the point we’ve used up all of our storage. It’s bittersweet, but it’s time to move. Enjoying a Maple Whiskey Sour while we prepare our house for the market seemed a fitting cocktail and a good way to sample Kirkland Bottled-in-Bond in a cocktail.
Our Maple Whiskey Sour, is a bit sour, with a hint of sweetness, and a few dashes of orange bitters to smooth the sour. It honestly, reminded me a bit of Sour Patch Kids. It starts sour and finishes sweet. We started with just lemon juice, whiskey, and maple syrup. However, the addition of a few dashes of orange bitters really changed the taste of this cocktail.
For the Maple Whiskey Sour, you will definitely want to use freshly squeezed lemon juice. For an ounce of lemon juice, we used 1 medium-sized lemon. The Maple Whiskey Sour is a great way to use up a bag of lemons you forgot you had relatively quickly.
If you’re in the mood for something a little maple and a bit sour, give our Maple Whiskey Sour a try.
Happy Exploring!
