Summer’s Strawberry Lemonade

Summer’s Strawberry Lemonade

Colorado is an odd place to live during the late spring. One day, it’s 90 degrees and you start counting down the days to summer vacation. But take one look at the weather forecast and there is probably snow in the forecast. On our most recent hot day before an impending snowstorm, I was craving a cold and refreshing cocktail. With strawberries and lemons taking up residence in my fridge, I decided to create a delicious strawberry and lemon whiskey drink we decided to call Summer’s Strawberry Lemonade.

This cocktail screams summer in a glass with the sweetness of strawberry syrup and a touch of sour from the lemon juice. For Summer’s Strawberry Lemonade, we used DeKuyper Muddle Mint Liqueur. You could use muddled mint leaves instead, but you would need a lot of mint to replicate the flavor of the mint liqueur. We preferred this cocktail with our daily drinker, Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond. Make sure to check out our review of Evan Williams here.

To make this drink, you’ll want to make sure you have fresh strawberries. In a pinch, you could substitute frozen strawberries, but you should let them thaw completely. The best part about crafting summer-time cocktails is the availability of fresh produce which just tastes brighter.
